Tournament Poker is where players become known.  One big payday at a major tourney and your life is changed in an instant.  Fame, money, and notoriety suddenly surrounds you. There's no question that tournament poker has grabbed the world's attention.

There is a poker tournament going on right now, as you read this.  In fact, at any given point in time there are multiple poker tournaments happening online or at your local card room.  The stakes can range anywhere from $0 online freeroll tournaments to a $25,000 seat at the World Poker Tour's Bellagio 5 Diamond Classic.

Every year people from all over the world come to Las Vegas and vie for the chance to win millions and call themselves, the best poker player in the world. Everyone wants to be the next Chris Moneymaker and who wouldn't?  The man played a $40 online satellite tournament and went on to win the World Series of Poker** main event and 2.5 million dollars. He'd never even set foot in a casino before that tourney.  With tons of books on poker, and thousands of online tournaments, the same opportunity is there for anyone else to win.

If you are new to online poker, take a look at our Getting Started Guide.  We've compiled answers to the most common questions and concerns that first timers have.

So, we're devoting this site to tournament poker, a better World Ranking System, and becoming better players. We want input from other fans of the game so don't forget to post on our forums about anything poker related.

Thanks for visiting Tourney.com!
