A lot better than last Friday

Well I'm pretty happy with how today went. Last Friday I got crushed for about 9 buy-in's in only about 1000 hands of NLHE. This Friday was a bit better. I finished the day up a couple buy-ins at NL100 and NL200. The following hand was probably the toughest one I played:

Villain was playing 35/22 and was only folding his BB to a steal about 50% of the time. He hadn't really played back at my steal attempts from the button this session until this hand. The turn was obviously the toughest decision in the hand. For what it's worth, he shoved pretty quick. I think if he had AK or KQ he'd have bet smaller or at least thought about it for a second. The same holds true if he had a hand like QQ or JJ. He'd at least have thought about the best play instead of just auto shove. Since these hands could be discounted in his range, I made the call.

First poker blog post in a long time

Well, this will hopefully be the first post of many as I start blogging my experiences again. I played a bit of PLO and NLHE today. I was generally pretty happy with my play in both games, especially considering I hadn't played since Friday, when I had my worst day ever in my 6.5 year career.

Anyway, this was probably one of the most interesting hands of the day. It's very rare that you can get all your money in as this big of a favorite in PLO. If you check out this poker equity calculator, you can see I was an 88% favorite. Ship the pot dealer!, oh wait...
