Dan Harrington was born in Cambridge Massachusetts in 1945 and
graduated from Suffolk Law School in Boston. In Dan's college years he
played poker with some students from Harvard including Paul Allen and
Bill Gates. Harrington now runs Anchor Loans, where he loans money
while at the same time investing in the stock market and real estate.
Dan views real estate and the stock market as just another type of
game, and claims there are many similarities between poker and
business. Poker isn't the only game in which Dan has excelled, he was a
state chess champion in 1971 and won the World Cup of Backgammon in
1980.
Dan Harrington's achievements in tournament poker are in a
league with the best in the game - Harrington came in 6th in his first
ever WSOP Championship in 1987 and won the WSOP No Limit Hole 'em Event
and the No Limit Hold 'em Championship in 1995. Harrington made the
final table of the two largest entry fields in WSOP Championship
history, 2003 and 2004, collecting $2.15 million for his 3rd and 4th
place finishes. Dan Harrington's is known for being a true "rock" at
the table - his play is very low risk and conservative, but obviously
successful. Harrington's theories and strategies are compiled in an
excellent book titled Harrington on Hold 'em: Expert Strategy for No
Limit Tournaments, a must read for serious tournament players - you can
