Amarillo 'Slim' Preston

Amarillo Preston was born in Johnson, Arkansas on December 31st, 1928. Amarillo now resides in Amarillo, Texas - he has a wife and three children. "The devil don't bet with Amarillo Slim." - as the old song goes. A living legend and ambassador of the game of poker, Amarillo was a rounder with Doyle Brunson many years ago. Amarillo actually started his career as a pool hustler and it is rumored that he won five Cadillacs in one week playing pool in San Francisco. Amarillo took on poker more seriously when pool became less lucrative in the 50's, and has been playing, and winning ever since.

Amarillo's accomplishments in poker include a victory in the WSOP main event in 1972. Amarillo became a Poker Hall of Fame inductee in 1992, he is a member of the Legends of Nevada, the Seniors Hall of Fame, and the Horseshoe's Hall of Fame. Amarillo's winnings in cash games through out the years include taking 2 million off of Larry Flint, but some of his other hustles include taking Willie Nelson for $300,000 in dominoes and beating Minnesota Fats in a game of pocket billiards using a broomstick. Amarillo wrote a great autobiography called "Amarillo Slim in a World of Fat People"
