Amir Vahedi

Amir Vahedi was born in Tehran, Iran in 1961 and now lives in Sherman Oaks, California. Ben Affleck can give some of the credit for his win at the 2004 California State Poker Championship to Amir Vahedi since he's the guy Jennifer Lopez hired to give Ben poker lessons when they were still exchanging gifts and not divorce papers. Vahedi's early years were spent in the Iranian army fighting in the Iran-Iraq war, eventually escaping to Germany and receiving refugee status in West Berlin. Vahedi finally made it to California with his brother and worked in the restaurant and limousine industries before discovering poker in 1997. Since then, Vahedi has had his ups and downs in poker but mostly ups with career earnings close to 2 million dollars.

Amir Vahedi has one WSOP brace let from the 2003 $1,500 No Limit Hold 'em event worth $270,000. Some of Vahedi's other achievements in tournament poker include 6th place in the 2003 WSOP No Limit Hold 'em Main Event worth $250,000, 1st place in the 2005 L.A. Poker Classic Limit Hold 'em Shootout taking home $49,832, and 1st place in the 2005 L.A. Poker Classic Limit Hold 'em event worth $446,292. Recently, Vahedi took 1st place in the Mirage Poker Showdown Pot Limit Hold 'em event collecting $69,840 in prize money. Vahedi is a fulltime poker pro that plays many tournaments throughout the year and his aggressive, unpredictable style of play will continue to put him at final tables well into the future.
