Antonio Esfandiari was born in Tehran, Iran in 1978 and moved to the
United States at age 9. Antonio was raised in San Jose, CA and now
lives in San Francisco. Esfandiari is well known for being a
professional magician, and probably takes the trophy for chip tricks
among all poker players, right or left handed. One card trick inspired
Antonio to begin studying magic 12 hours a day, and he eventually
worked full-time as a pro magician while taking up poker in his spare
time. Antonio won his second tournament ever after reading a few books
about poker and then moved to cash games where he performed some magic
on a $900 bankroll by turning it into $20,000 in three months time.
Antonio Esfandiari has had some impressive achievements in his short poker
career - He is the youngest player ever to win a $1 million prize in a
poker tournament, he took 3rd place in the WPT Gold Rush No Limit Hold
'em Championship, 6th place in the WPT Invitational in 2004, 1st place
in the WPT L.A. Poker Classic No Limit Hold 'em event in 2004
collecting $1.3 million, and 1st place in the WSOP Pot Limit Hold 'em
event in 2004. Since then, Esfandiari has had several money finishes
including 3rd place in the 2005 National Heads-Up Poker Championship
worth $125,000. Antonio has proven to the poker world that he's not all
smoke and mirrors, but actually a solid player to look out for in many
