Barry Shulman

Barry Shulman was born on May 8th, 1946 in Seattle, Washington and now lives in Las Vegas, Nevada. Barry started playing poker in 1956 took a 20-year break from the game to work as a real estate developer. Barry now plays between 50 and 100 tournaments a year but still considers himself a businessman first and a poker player second. Barry Shulman is well known for being the publisher of Cardplayer magazine, which he bought back in 2000. Barry now runs the magazine and website along with his son, Jeff, who also happens to be a successful poker player to no surprise. Barry and Jeff are working hard at keeping the magazine up to date and consistently providing poker players with quality material written by their staff of poker professionals.

Barry Shulman knows poker - his career earnings in tournament poker total roughly $1.2 million and he has one WSOP gold bracelet to his name. Barry won the bracelet in the 2001 WSOP Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo Split event worth $123,820 in prize money. Some of Barry's other achievements in tournament poker include: 1st place in the 2001 Four Queens Poker Classic No Limit Hold 'em Championship worth $83,662, 4th place in the 2003 WPT Ultimatebet.com Poker Classic II worth $112,780, and 1st place in the 2003 Bellagio Five-Diamond World Poker Classic collecting $234 798 in prize money. Recently in April of 2005, Shulman took 2nd place in the PPT Third Annual Five-Star World Poker Classic No Limit Hold 'em Final worth and even $100,000 - reassuring everyone who reads Cardplayer, that the guy in charge knows what he's talking about.
