Daniel Bergsdorf was born in 1978 and is a truck driver from Umea,
Sweden. Bergsdorf is yet another member of the club for internet
qualifiers who never played a major tournament before and went home
from the WSOP a millionaire. Daniel played a $33 dollar tournament on PokerStars.com
and qualified for entry into the largest WSOP poker tournament in
history. Daniel battled a record entry field of 5619 players to make
the final table in this year's Main Event.
Daniel was hot on the
second to last day of the event, catching pocket aces twice and pocket
kings in just a matter of minutes. Daniel's cards ran cold at the final
table however, and having played tight for a period of time, Daniel was
forced to pick a spot and make a move with pocket jacks. Bergsdorf's
all-in was called by John "Tex" Barch who held pocket tens but the flop
would spell disaster for Bergsdorf as a ten would fall and no help
would follow. Bergsdorf finished in 7th place and collected a cool $1.3
million in prize money to take home to Sweden. Bergsdorf admitted to
reporters after the event that a new car was definitely on his list of
ways to spend his new found cash, but that he'd also betaking a
vacation for a while before continuing to play poker. You can get a
piece of that 1.3 million dollar bank roll by playing poker with Daniel
online at PokerStars.com - look for him under the screen name "berka".
