David Williams was born in 1981 and resides in Dallas, Texas where he
is finishing an Economics program at Southern Methodist University.
David Williams is living the new American Dream in his college years
with tournament wins surpassing the 4 million dollar mark. David Williams became a household name after his second place finish to champ
Greg Raymer in the 2004 WSOP Main Event, taking home $3.5 million (1
million more then the record setting 1st place payout of the previous
year). Before the "big win", Williams was an accomplished player at
another card game, Magic: the Gathering, for which he had traveled to
over 35 countries, making some cash and building a reputation along the
way. Whatever following David Williams had prior to poker, is totally
eclipsed by the fame that surrounds him after sitting heads up at the
biggest poker tournament the world had ever seen - and he got there by
winning an online satellite tournament.
David's tournament
achievements are impressive given his short career in tournament poker
- some of his accomplishments include: 2nd place in the 2004 WPT
Borgata Poker Open worth $573,800, 1st place in the 2004 Five Diamond
World Poker Classic Limit Hold 'em event worth $121,057, and a 25th
place finish at the WPT Third Annual Five-Star World Poker Classic in
Las Vegas worth $56,615. These wins barely compare to the $3.5 million
dollar 2nd place finish in the largest tournament to date for which
this college kid will be remembered in the poker's history books. An
interesting fact about the final table in 2004's main event, is that 4
out of 9 of the players qualified for the event via online satellite
tournaments - become the next David Williams, win a WSOP satellite at Full Tilt Poker.
