Josh Arieh

Josh Arieh was born in 1975 and is originally from Rochester, New York but moved to Atlanta, Georgia with his family in 1984. Josh began playing poker as a teenager with a group of friends that would hang out in a pool hall late after closing. Josh quickly discovered he was making more money at poker then at hustling pool and used his brother's ID to play some tournament poker in Biloxi, Mississippi. Josh developed his skills by dealing and playing in organized games until eventually taking on poker full-time. Since then, Arieh has paved a trail of tournament cashes surpassing $3.5 million along with 2 WSOP bracelets.

Josh Arieh took his first bracelet in the 1999 WSOP Limit Hold'em event collecting $202,800. Joshed proved he was no fluke by returning the next year to take second place to Johnny Chan in the Omaha Pot Limit event worth $89,700. Arieh had scattered cashes from that point on with a 2nd place finish at the Bellagio Five-Diamond World Poker Classic in 2003 taking home $52,986. However, Josh's big payday finally came in the 2004 WSOP Main Event when he outlasted a field of 2,573 entrants to take 3rd place in the biggest poker tournament of its time - pocketing $2.5 million for his efforts. Josh Arieh didn't stop there - he went on to take 3rd place in the 2004 WPT Borgata Poker Open worth $286,900, and 1st place in the 2005 WSOP Pot Limit Omaha event worth $381,600 and a second gold bracelet. Josh received some negative criticism for some comments he made on tape at the 2004 WSOP, but friends and fellow players claim Josh was misrepresented by ESPN's coverage and is really a good guy overall. Whichever view you hold, the 2 bracelets and 3.5 mil are all you need to remember when he sits at your table.
