Layne Flack was born in Rapid City, South Dakota in 1969 and grew up in
Montana where he would eventually work as a poker dealer. While Layne
worked as a dealer, he played poker regularly and was successful enough
to eventually quit college and play full-time. Along the way, Flack met
Huck Seed who recognized his talent and encouraged him to play some
cards in Las Vegas. Flack won the second tournament he ever played in
and made the correct decision to stay on the poker circuit. Layne Flack
picked up another mentor while in Vegas, Johnny Chan, who used to let
Flack sit behind him while he was playing.
Layne Flack must be a
keen observer, because he now has five WSOP bracelets to his name and
career winnings surpassing roughly $2.3 million. Some of Flack's cashes
in tournament poker include: Five first place finishes at the WSOP (in
the events of Pot Limit Hold 'em, No Limit Hold 'em, Omaha Hi-Lo Split,
and Limit Hold 'em Shootout), 1st place in the 2003 WPT Pro-Celebrity
Invitational in Los Angeles worth $125,000, 1st place in the 2003
Bellagio Five-Diamond World Poker Classic Omaha Hi-Lo event taking home
$92,150, and 1st place in the 2004 Monte Carlo Millions tournament
worth $40,000. Recently, Flack has found some final tables at the 2005
WSOP and took second place in the $1,500 Pot Limit Hold 'em event
collecting $185,855 for his efforts. Layne Flack's accomplishments in
tournament poker put him in a league with the game's best - now if the
rest of us could only get in that seat behind Johnny Chan!
