Marcel "The Flying Dutchman" Luske was born in Amsterdam in 1953 and
now resides in Almere, Holland - he is married with two children.
Marcel Luske has only been playing tournament poker for five years, but
in that time has earned a reputation as one of the games most likable
characters. Luske is exuberant at the tables, always talkative and
often singing, but nevertheless a true gentleman. Who can forget
Marcel's tribute to the band Supertramp during the 2004 WSOP Main Event
when he sang lovingly to his opponents through a thick Dutch accent,
"Give a little biiiit - give a little biiit of your chips to meee". In
between songs, Marcel gets the business done at the tournament tables,
earning the title as the #1 ranked player in Europe in 2001 and 2003.
Marcel "The Flying Dutchman" Luske has achieved a great deal considering his short career in
tournament poker. Some of Marcel's finishes include: 1st place in the
2001 British Open Pot Limit Omaha event worth $51,600, 14th place in
the 2003 WSOP Main Event worth $65,000, 1st place in the 2003 London
Poker Classics tournament worth $116,940, and 2nd place in the 2004
WSOP Seven Card Stud event taking home $120,800. More recently, Luske
took 1st place at The Third Annual Five-Star World Poker Classic in Las
Vegas collecting $212,070 for his efforts. Marcel has had two money
finishes so far in the 2005 WSOP and will no doubt be singing his way
to a money finish in the main event.
