Mark Seif was born in Cairo Egypt on October 4th, 1967 and raised in
southern California. Seif graduated UCLA and studied law at Loyola
University Law School, eventually working as a prosecuting attorney in
southern California. Mark now resides in Lake Tahoe, Nevada where he
has stopped working in law in order to pursue playing poker full-time.
Mark's interest in poker began at age six when his father taught him
the game and allowed Mark to play with the family. One night Mark
bluffed his father out of a big pot, and this put his father so on tilt
that he forced Mark to show him the cards (even though he didn't call).
When the bluff was revealed, little Mark had to give back his winnings
and was never allowed to play poker with his family again.
Nowadays,
Mark Seif is allowed to keep his winnings - even when he bluffs. Some
of Mark's tournament achievements include: 1st place in The Fourth
Annual Jack Binion World Poker Open No Limit Hold 'em event worth
$99,595, 1st place in the 2003 Sport of Kings Tournament in Los Angeles
worth $27,685, and 1st place in the 2004 Legends of Poker Tournament No
Limit Hold 'em event taking home $137,805. Mark Seif has been running
hot recently, with two gold bracelet wins at the 2005 World Series of
Poker - one for the $1,500 Limit Hold 'em Shootout event, and one for
the $1,500 No Limit Hold 'em event totaling $792,475.
