Mel Judah

Mel Judah was born on August 10th, 1947 in Calcutta, India and now resides in London, England. Judah is a former hair stylist that worked on the artistic team for Vidal Sassoon in London before opening his on salon in London's West End. Mel took up poker in the late 70's and made his first trip to Las Vegas in 1981. Judah lived with his family in Australia and explored different business opportunities while devoting enough time for a trip to Vegas each year to play in some major poker tournaments. Besides playing poker, Judah is also involved with the World Poker Championship - which is a new company he founded with the goal of competing with the World Poker Tour. Look for the first WPC broadcasts on Sky Sports.

Mel Judah has 2 WSOP bracelets and career earnings surpassing $2.1 million. Judah's WSOP bracelets came in the event of Seven Card Stud in 1989 and 1997. Some of Judah's other achievements in tournament poker include: 3rd place in the 1997 WSOP No Limit Hold 'em Main Event worth $371,000, 2nd place in the 2003 WSOP Seven Card Stud event worth $102,680, and 1st place in the 2003 WPT Legends of Poker Main Event defeating Paul Phillips for $579,375. Recently, Judah cashed in two events of the 2005 WSOP, but has claimed that he is easing his way out of playing poker, although his aspirations for the WPC remain strong.
