Mel Judah was born on August 10th, 1947 in Calcutta, India and now
resides in London, England. Judah is a former hair stylist that worked
on the artistic team for Vidal Sassoon in London before opening his on
salon in London's West End. Mel took up poker in the late 70's and made
his first trip to Las Vegas in 1981. Judah lived with his family in
Australia and explored different business opportunities while devoting
enough time for a trip to Vegas each year to play in some major poker
tournaments. Besides playing poker, Judah is also involved with the
World Poker Championship - which is a new company he founded with the
goal of competing with the World Poker Tour. Look for the first WPC
broadcasts on Sky Sports.
Mel Judah has 2 WSOP bracelets and
career earnings surpassing $2.1 million. Judah's WSOP bracelets came in
the event of Seven Card Stud in 1989 and 1997. Some of Judah's other
achievements in tournament poker include: 3rd place in the 1997 WSOP No
Limit Hold 'em Main Event worth $371,000, 2nd place in the 2003 WSOP
Seven Card Stud event worth $102,680, and 1st place in the 2003 WPT
Legends of Poker Main Event defeating Paul Phillips for $579,375.
Recently, Judah cashed in two events of the 2005 WSOP, but has claimed
that he is easing his way out of playing poker, although his
aspirations for the WPC remain strong.
