Mike Matusow is 37 years old and was born in Los Angeles but now
resides in Las Vegas, Nevada. Matusow is a former poker dealer who made
the transition to player over ten years ago and since then has finished
in the money at the WSOP 18 times. Mike is better known for being one
of the games more "vocal" players, hence his nickname "The Mouth". Mike
Matusow's table manners are as aggressive as his playing style -
incessantly jabbering and digging at his opponents while unable to
restrain his own emotional reactions to any bad break. The "Matusow
Blow-Up" has become standard vernacular in any tournament Mike has
entered and it refers to the point where Matusow becomes so emotionally
tilted that his elimination is eminent.
In spite of his lack of
emotional control, Mike Matusow is considered one of the best Omaha
tournament players in the world, and accumulated over $2.2 million in
tournament winnings during his career. Some of Matusow's
accomplishments in tournament poker include: 2 WSOP bracelets in the
events of Omaha Hi/Lo split (2002) and No Limit Hold 'em (1999), 6th
place in the 2001 WSOP Main Event worth $239,765, and 3rd place in the
2004 WPT Ultimatebet Poker Classic collecting $250,000. Most recently,
Mike appeared at the final table of the 2005 WSOP Main Event with the
largest prize pool in the history of tournament poker and took home a
cool $1 million for 9th place. You can play with Mike Matusow online at
