		Phil Laak Phil Laak was born in Dublin Ireland in 1972 and now resides in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Laak is a former real estate investor, sports bet broker, and part time stock market speculator who began playing poker in 1999. Phil is best known for wearing a hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses at the poker tables for which he has acquired his nickname of "The Unabomber". Laak has quite a unique way of preparing for matches against other players - he practices techniques of "higher-order mental functioning" which he claims give him a psychic connection with his opponents. However crazy his methods may sound, his psychic reads seem to be working well for him on raking in the tournament cash. Some of Phil Laak's tournament accomplishments include: 6th place finish in the 2003 WPT Legends of Poker No Limit Hold 'em main event worth $54,075 - 12th place in the 2003 WPT Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker Classic worth $34,917 - and 1st place in the 2004 WPT Los Angeles Celebrity Invitational worth $100,000. Phil Laak admits that poker is just one of his many interests and that he views poker as a means of having fun, and that he does - he's been known to dance around the table, do push-ups between hands, and thrash on the floor after a big save.
