Ron Rose was born in Vancouver, Washington in 1944 and now lives in
Dayton, Ohio. Rose started playing poker later in life after many
undertakings such as: a degree in Mathematics from the University of
Massachusetts, becoming a captain in the U.S. Air Force, and becoming a
member of the American Stock Exchange. Ron Rose also acquired a wife,
three children, and four grand children along the way before taking up
tournament poker in 2000. Ron had always maintained the goal of one day
competing against the top pros in the world, which he finally achieved
at the 2003 WPT Battle of Champions event where he competed and won
outright.
Ron Rose has cashed in around $730,000 in tournament
winnings in the past five years and has one WSOP bracelet to his name
for the 2003 Seniors No Limit Hold 'em event worth $130,060. Some of
Ron's other tournament poker cashes include: 3rd place in the 2002
Third Annual Jack Binion World Poker Open Pot Limit Omaha event worth
$61,866, 1st place in the 2002 Spring Tournament in Paris worth $
28,759, and 2nd place in the 2004 L.A. Poker Classic Pot Limit Hold 'em
event collecting $60,410 in prize money. In November of 2004, Rose had
a 3rd place finish in the PPT World Poker Finals and collected $60,000
for a hard days work. Ron admits that the win he is most fond of is the
win from the 2003 WPT Battle of Champions tournament and why not -
coming out victorious against an entry field of the top pros in the
world is definitely a story to tell the grand kids all about.
