Scott Lazar

Scott Lazar was born in Woodmere, New York in 1963 and now lives in Studio City, California where he works in production on independent films. Poker is not Scott's only interaction with a deck of cards during the work week - he also works as a magician, earning him the nick name "Magic" at the poker tables. Scott claims the reason he never went to the next level with magic was because he loved poker so much and decided to focus his efforts there. This would turn out to be a smart decision for Mark, since it would eventually lead to a performance in the 2005 WSOP Main Event that was good enough to make him a millionaire. Lazar made the final table in the largest WSOP tournament in history - an astounding 5619 entrants. Sixth place was good enough for 1.5 million, more then the first place winners from just five years ago.

Scott Lazar had some comparatively minor tournament achievements prior to his finish at the 2005 Main Event, but they should be noted nonetheless. Some of Lazar's other tournament poker cashes include: 2nd place at the Limit Hold 'em Championship at the Winnin "o" the Green event in Los Angeles worth $14,310, 24th place in the Limit Hold 'em event at the 2002 L.A. Poker Classic worth $2,559, and 10th place in the No Limit Hold 'em Shootout in the 2005 L.A. Poker Classic taking home $3,259. Now that Lazar's bankroll has increased a tiny bit, we will definitely be seeing him perform his magic in more of the major tournaments through out the year.
